The Carrollton Wind Symphony is an all-volunteer symphonic band that is honored to be sponsored by the City of Carrollton. It was founded as a small group in 1995 by John Zulli, known as the "Carrollton Community Band." Mr. Zulli's legacy lives on as we've grown to over 90 members, led by Artistic Director Jim McDaniel and Associate Director Jim Moen.
The band presents a series of two concerts annually at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano and four concerts within the city of Carrollton. In addition, the ensemble performs for various City of Carrollton special events and for festivals and conventions by invitation. Most recently, the Carrollton Wind Symphony performed at the Texas Band Masters Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas. The Wind Symphony is also supported by Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD by providing a rehearsal space at Creekview High School. The Carrollton Wind Symphony is a member of the Association of Concert Bands, an international organization dedicated to the advancemend of adult community bands.
Our members range from those picking up their instrument for the first time in years, to local school band directors, to professional musicians. We perform approximately 4 concerts per year, which are free and open to the public.
